Capitec funeral cover is available through the Capitec banking app, at any Capitec branch, or by calling 0860 10 20 43. You do not need to bank with Capitec to apply — any South African bank account qualifies.

Capitec vs Other Funeral Cover Providers

Capitec's main advantage is price. For R50 000 cover, Capitec charges significantly less than traditional insurers. The trade-off is that Capitec pays a cash lump sum only — it does not coordinate funeral arrangements, transport, or catering the way a provider like Avbob does. For families who want cash paid fast and prefer managing arrangements themselves, Capitec is hard to beat on value.
